Small group tour with archaeologist

The experience

Walks of Italy takes a group of up to 15 people for two and a half or three hours in the excavations; there is also a private option, the «Complete Pompeii Tour». The listing describes the guide as an official Pompeii guide with training in archaeology. The price starts from $63 per person, with entry tickets already booked.

For comparison: the official Pompei Express costs €20 in 2026, is named and non-refundable, and does not allow name or date changes (source: Park's Hours and Prices page). The same rule applies here: full names must be provided at booking and must match the ID, and the listing does not allow changes. The booking itself can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before.

The itinerary includes the House of the Vettii, the baths, shops and the Lupanar, and explains how Pompeii is still an active excavation: according to the listing, about one third of the city remains to be discovered. It is a moderately paced tour: not suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues, and strollers are not allowed.
