To book: Ticket with audio guide, from $40 per person. Check dates Tour details
The ticket for Pompeii seems like a formality. Then you discover it bears your name, a date and a time band, and that it is non-refundable. The Archaeological Park of Pompeii set these rules with the regulation of 23 December 2025, and anyone arriving with a wrong name or without ID does not enter.
Here we list the official tickets with the Park's prices and, alongside, the options that can be booked on GetYourGuide with what each includes. The choice remains yours.

The suburban villas. Pompei Express stops at the ancient city, Pompei+ includes Villa of the Mysteries and Villa of Diomedes, plus Villa Regina in Boscoreale with the shuttle.
The villas route starts at Porta Ercolano, on via delle Tombe, and is not sold separately. If you already have Pompei Express, you can add it on the spot with a supplementary ticket of €8, paid only cashless at the start of the route. Last entry at Porta Ercolano is at 15:30 in winter and 17:30 in summer.
What you'll find along the route is explained in the guide to what to see in Pompeii.

Is it necessary to book to visit Pompeii?
The Park recommends advance sale: the ticket arrives as a PDF, printed or on your smartphone, and with that you go directly to the turnstiles. A cap of 20,000 entries per day applies.
The regulations divide the day into two bands: from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 13:01 to 17:30 from 16 March to 14 October, from 13:01 to 15:30 from 15 October to 15 March. In the first band, a maximum of 15,000 people enter, in the second 5,000. The band is printed on the ticket, so decide the time before you buy.
Options on GetYourGuide can be cancelled for free up to 24 hours before; the official named ticket is non-refundable.

Online on Vivaticket, which the Park indicates as the only authorised seller, or at the ticket offices inside the archaeological area.
The official ticket offices are three: Porta Marina, Piazza Anfiteatro and Piazza Esedra, all inside the Park. The Park also repeats this in English on its fare map: the only authorised offices are inside the archaeological area.
Those who buy online receive the ticket as a PDF. Keep it ready along with an ID: at the turnstiles, staff may ask for it.

How does the named ticket work?
The ticket has your name, the day and the time band. It is personal and cannot be transferred.
- No refunds:named tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of extraordinary closure of the Park.
- No changes:name and date cannot be changed.
- ID at hand:if the name does not match, you cannot enter and are not entitled to a refund.
- One entry only:leaving and re-entering with the same ticket is not allowed.
All the details of the regulations are in our article on the named ticket.

It depends on how you arrive and what you have booked. Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra are served by the Pompei Villa dei Misteri stop of the Circumvesuviana; Piazza Anfiteatro by the Pompei Santuario stop.
If you have a voucher, the meeting point decides for you. The tour with archaeologist starts outside Porta Marina; the ticket with app is exchanged at the info point in Piazza Esedra; the one with audio guide and map is collected at an office on the first floor of the Circumvesuviana station. The accessible route «Pompei per tutti» starts from Piazza Anfiteatro.
